Important public service message

In these times it is more critical than ever that every eligible person in this country votes, but that is not enough.

As my cousin said three years ago, “it is no longer enough to just vote. We have to do more.”

We have to actively participate in our democracy. We have to volunteer to move the candidates or issues we believe in forward. We have to attend meetings, make calls, knock on doors, educate our fellow Americans.

We have to make sure that the people running our states and our country reflect the values and morals of the majority of us.

I took his words to heart, and volunteer at the local political office of my choice. I hope you will as well, and keep volunteering after the election. This is too important to not get correct.

  1. I wish I could vote there now. The recent state of affairs is despicable. I fear to read the news of some certain judge being appointed today.
Thanks for volunteering and getting involved

    1. Ahh, yes, Chuck. I have a friend in Iowa, she apologized to the rest of us. As I should for Collins. All we can do is work harder, right? And get the voters out on election day.

  2. Great post. You are right. Our democracy is being slowly but surely taken away from us. And it’s being done in plain sight. Congress and the White House are not listening to the people. It is no longer government by the people, for the people and we have to take it back.

  3. For some reason I thought that maybe this time what is just and right would win, but I no longer take decency, logic, or a sense of responsibility for each other for granted. Well, it’s actually been awhile since I really believed these would sway people. The self – interest and the blatant sexism sicken me. I may live in Canada (run sisters! Run!), I still vote in the US. I’m ever hopeful and ever skeptical. Let’s try to take care of each other.

A Note From Abroad

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sailaway from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain
